Permits

Community Core is your online portal for permitting with the Town. This software allows electronic submittals for the public and contractors. You can easily apply, track planning review development, and pay fees associated with the permit. Complete an account sign up prior to submitting a permit for review. The Town's review could take up to 3-5 business days depending on how the application was submitted. Missing items can delay the review. Please note, there are specific plot plan requirements for Commercial and Residential new builds.

The Planning Department handles construction permits, along with Pikes Peak Regional Building Department . To ensure you are within the Town limits, you may visit the El Paso County Assessors website. If Monument is listed as the tax entity, then you are within the Town limits and are required to obtain a permit. All building projects within the Town, including new construction, remodeling and repairs require general construction permits to allow construction, and trade-specific permits for each part of the project (Additional permit types and approvals may be needed based on the individual property and project). Businesses operating within the Town of Monument are required to first obtain a business license - including contractors.
